Judging by this site’s title, you could make the very safe assumption that RPGs are kind of a favorite around here. That assumption would be correct, of course. With the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth being huge on PC, I decided to give some other RPGs in 2025 a good look. Here is a list of 5 REPGs to look forward to in 2025.
- Suikoden 1 & 2 Remastered

Suikoden was an important part of my life in the 90’s and I have been anxiously awaiting a chance to play it on modern consoles. Konami is releasing them finally to everything imaginable and I could not be any more excited than I am. Highly regarded as some of the greatest RPGs in the PlayStation 1 era, Konami is finally releasing them to everything imaginable. I could not be any more excited than I am for this series to return. Boasting new gameplay features such as battle speed-up and a difficulty selector, Suikoden 1 and 2 remastered looks to introduce a fantastic story of war, betrayal, love, and friendship to a whole new audience. You can find Suikoden 1 & 2 releasing on March 6th.
2. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Realism in video games is something we both yearn for and try to escape. Kingdom Come Deliverance offered a form of realism that has been umatched in video games before. The main character, Henry, starts off being terrible at pretty much everything. The way to make Henry be able to wield a sword or build charisma is to practice such things. Swing that sword to level it and talk the talk to increase that confidence. Kingdom Come Deliverance looks to build on all the superb systems of its predecessor and become the ultimate Knight simulator. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 releases on February 4th.
3. Lunar Remastered Collection

Another classic RPG getting remastered for us millenials! OR anyone, really. Lunar Remastered Collection offers up both Lunar Silver Star Story and Lunar 2 Eternal Blue in one high resolution collection. Enhanced graphics, audio, and quality of life improvements lead the way for this release. Originally brought to life in 1992, it will surely be a great game for anyone looking to relive the old school Playstation era of RPGs. Lunar Remastred Collection releases on April 18th, 2025.
4. Clair Obscur Expedition 33

One of the most visually impressive RPGs I have seen so far, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 also sports a big voice cast with some big name players. Jennifer English, Charlie Cox, Andy Serkis, and Ben Starr just to name a few! Survive an adventure of a perilous painter who paints a cursed number causing all people of that age to perish. With a promise of expanding on traditional JRPGs, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 looks to break the mold and offer up an interesting twist on the turn-based formula. Looks out for a release on Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5 and PC on April 24th!
5. Avowed

A game heavily compared to Skyrim but is getting a different vibe via preview builds is Avowed. This action RPG gives you a bit of a more linear approach to the genre and I welcome the change. Battle enemies, unleash spells, solve puzzles, and become the protector of the Living Lands on February 18th!
Obviously these are just a small sample of RPGs gracing us with their presence at the start of this year. We still have Monster Hunter Wilds, Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and more heading our way soon. What are YOU most excited for this season? Let us at XP Chronicles know!
